MUTUAL EXCHANGE occurred at Comfort Station in November 2023. This night of sonic performance explored ideas of connection between people who trust in one another enough to act intuitively. Collaborative improvisation represented the growth of interpersonal relationships. In this process, there was no individual: the being of one influenced and responded to and affected the being of the other, constantly pushing back and forth, creating one fluid motion. In MUTUAL EXCHANGE, power dynamics were not struggled for, but given, control was relinquished to instinct and chance, and performers and audience were required to trust and respect one another’s choices.
