Grace DeVies (b. 1999) is a performance artist and curator based in Chicago who rips themselves open and lays themselves bare so that you may see your own humanity in their flesh. DeVies connects with others through moments of facilitated intimacy, displaying, confusing, or eliminating power dynamics. DeVies finds inspiration in the hol(e)y, in continuity, and in practices of fetish and risk-aware informed consent. Their art serves as an act of love, a religious experience, and an ephemeral happening. DeVies is a graduate of the School of the Art Institute of Chicago’s BFA program and has performed live at The Momentary, MANA Contemporary, The International Museum of Surgical Science, Elastic Arts, Ohklahomo, and Positive Space. They have exhibited work at the Erie Art Museum and Dispatch Gallery and have curated shows at Comfort Station and NoNation Art Lab.
